What to do if the engine is ticking......RUN, it a bomb!!
Really though, the longer you run it the more likely you are to hurt it. It most likely is a lifter tick, most commenly caused by a bad lifter or a badly adjusted rocker arm. If you let it go, you can wear out the parts that are making the noise simply due to the banging into each other. What is it doing exacly....ticking all the time, when you start it cold, when?

I was thinking more like a timing issue. I adjusted the rocker arms and am sure that they are fine. The motor ran for like 600 miles with no tick then i realized that the maf was not hooked up properly, i hooked that up properly then i decided to fool with the timing and fuel pressure a bit. This ticking is accompanied by glowing headers.

you need a light to check it and if it's not at 10 degrees btdc then you need to set it to factory spec then go from there because timing retarded to far can make a header glow!!! I installed a 302 once in a falcon and we just fired it up after a new rebuild and with in a few seconds of holding the r's at 2300 for break in purposes it started to glow so I just advanced the timing until it stopped glowing then once break in period was over set it to spec and all was good!!
