if you have stock E7te heads in my opinion a cam is a waste becausethe heads don't flow very good in pure stock form and have their limitations........if your carbed like you said then I'd choose a decent head to complement a cam choice......everyone will tell you get a custom grind to max power...but maxing every angle isn't always everyones goal so if this is the case for you then go to summit racing and do a search for hydraulic roller cams and see if they offer any for carb set ups if not then pick one that has a dual pattern meaning more lift on the exhaust then the intake side as most SBF'S benifit from more lift on the exhaust side........you really need an H/C/I swap and for an intake I'd do away with the performer 289 and go rpm air gap that'll give to a range up to 6500 were as the performer is to 5500

to give you an example of a waste of money...see the 92 lx in my sig pic = the green one.......it runs in the hot weather 13.90's @ 97 mph......so I swapped the stock cam for an f-cam .512/.512 lift and had a set of e7te ported stock heads sitting around .......I figured they didn't cost anything sitting there so why not use them....I did all that work back in the early spring and ran the car again with the new changes and it still runs 13.90's @97 mph........so the moral is if I'd swap to a good set of heads then the cam could take advantage of a more free flowing head but I don't care because that's not my goal with that car... I let my wife run it and it's plenty fast for her!!!!

Gt-40's are a nice upgrade from stock and can probably find a set for well under 500.00.......but aluminum heads are the way to go...AFR makes decent one.. I got the 185's .... Canfield are decent and RHS seem to get good reviews here too.
