Default Computer (SD) controlling electric fan?

I was reading on fordfuelinjection.com that a pin from the computer can control an electric fan. Now it says A9l/P etc, but will a DA1 computer do it as well? And will that pin control everything? Just mount the fan, attach a pin to that, and give the fan power (Or give it ground, and the computer is power, can't remember) and I'm done.. no thermostat, etc? Thanks!

why not just hook it up to turn on when you turn the key forward. way easier to hook up and you can cool your car off between runs at the dragstrip or just whenver it gets hot?

Or to a toggle switch mounted in the car. You can also buy the electric fan temperature probe from Summit and set it to whatever degree you desire for the fan to come on.
