i found a 96 explorer motor for cheap is it a direct swap and are they ho motors? and how much hp do they got?my motor is smoking and need a new one

yes just put in a dist and its perfect match

yea cause they have a dist less ignition. also make sure you check for clearence with your headers. some will work some wont. if you have t guess it then get the ones for the gtp heads. cause of hte spark plug is more straight then angled like the stockers and interfer with the header tubes

I believe the cam grind is different... It will have good low end torque but will not have near the top end that a normal 5.0 should have... That would be the first thing i would change...

can i put my 88 sd cam in it and i got some stock headers and some mac 1 5/8" shorties will they work some how

i though there was 2 diff heads gt40's and gt40 p heads that come on explorers

Not with the GTP heads.. and yes you can put the cam in... If you still have the E7 heads you can always put those on and use your headers....

damn i just bought the headers to. what kinda diff is there between the heads as far as power wise and whats the hp of the stock explorer? thanks
