Default check engine light

some times my check engine light will come on for a second or two then turn off. its randomly happened whilst driving, anything from idle to WOT...

is it a dirty MAF, or could it simply be that I dont have cats and the 02 sensors are going off? (still have the rest of the smog stuff

The "intermittent on" means the computer has found some issues, stored some codes, and the codes should be pulled at the earliest possible convenience
The issues can be compensated for by the computer, or are possibly intermittent, but re-occurring, and won't affect drivability...for now

As opposed the a constant CEL which means you've got a serious issue which should be addressed immediately

Pull the codes and find out what's up:

That's not whata constant cell truly indicates[&:] It means that the computer has detected a hard fault and the fault is present at the moment..I've driven mine around before, for months sometimes due to laziness with out fixing the issue.......even though the owners manual says " Go to shop asap" and have checked.. more often then not the problems aren't "serious" as long as the car starts and runs fine there often is no rush and usually the case is there is a malfunction in a emissions control component if the car is running okay... either way it's a good idea to have codes pulled and repaired at an oportune moment so they don't add up to numerous issues

I'm not 100% worried about it, as it came on 3 times in the period of about a week.... it would flash for a second then go off... then be off for the rest of the trip, but then again, with the electrical problems I have with her, it could be due to that...

I dunno...

but she is at the shop now...hopefully getting fixed... so now I am bumming rides
