Tire size/disc brake for 89 mustang gt
89 mustang gt conv....Cobra disc brake conversion.... as of right now i have 245/40/17 and the cobra rims that i think do not fit, cuz if i turn all the way to one side it (left or right, its the same) itreally skrapes the controlarm badly. i think they could be 17x8, are those too big for stock fenders and sizing? ok long story short, i know the 89 has smaller wheel wells then later models. so if i wanna go 5 lug Cobra brake conversion all the way around, whats the best tire and rim size to get? those little radius pins dont really help on turning to tight either. i dont mind if its a staggered set of rims.
Thanks in advance, sorry for the long intro

RE: Tire size/disc brake for 89 mustang gt
7 yrs ago I also ran into the same problem with 245/ 40 / 17on17" X 9" rims onmy 89 with the rimslightly scraping on the A-arms.
I installedrack limiters/travel restrictor (1 per side) which tooktook me about 10 mins to do and the cost was about $5 and that stopped all the rubbing of the rim on the A-arms.
Rack limiters do come in different thicknessesbut most ppl seem to used part # N804842-S washer, which you can get from Ford or 50 resto.
