Default Stock Block

i have heard that the stock block on your foxbody is only good up to what.....................500hp?? true?

im not sure how much hp each aftermarket part gets me but along with my headers/flows/hpipe id like to do more. but with.........

headers, heads, upper/lower intake, cold air, hpipe, headers, flows and cam..........would i still be safe w/ hp range?

.....like i said im not sure of how much hp each mod would give me, so any advice is appreciated

True, they are difficult to trust above the 500hp mark. Basically with the upgrades you have listed you have nothing to worry about. You mods that you listed will get you in the order of 100fwhp depending on the heads, cam and intake combo you choose. Perhaps a little more on the hp side but still way within the range that you r block can handle.

I would never spend all that money to build a stock block to 500HP thats asking for trouble. Get a new 4 bolt main block from Dart and then you won't have to worry about anything blowing up, just stay away from DSS they take "seasoned" blocks (meaning used) and do minimalwork to them and make them sound great.

500 hp would be strecthing the reliablity of your motor but for now your are safe. In order to make the hp that your are talking about you would need a BOSS 302, Dart, and good internals to make 500+. I hope that you are a mechanic, or know someone that is because 500hp does not come cheap!! Bennett Racing, Kuntz & Co., Keith Craft,or Kotzur motors make some good motors. If you do not want to mail order a motor then have a local shop build one for you.

Good luck!!

Thank God somebody with some sense weighed in.

Stock bottom ends are okay at 500hp, the guy that started this thread is in no risk of hitting it with the mod's listed. Frankly it's senseless to spend $2000+ before machine work to run 500hp. Just plain bad advice. If everyone bought Dart's or Man-O-Wars then why limit to 500hp?
