HEADS...HEADS....AND MORE HEADS!!!!
 

So I now have the motor back out of my car(after a bad season)....and the head casting numbers are E6SE......Heart shaped small combustion chamber......the problem is the car had a ton of low end power but in third just feel off.......these heads look alot smaller(chamber size) than my stock(83' heads)D8OE.....could these E6's have caused a major restriction????? the car was off the pace by 1/2 sec. and 7 to10 mph.......but picked up in 60 foot.....any thoughts???????

i think e6's are more worthless the e7's....ditch em

e6's had a problem with flow expecially on the exhaust side and were more restrictive which was the major reason the 86's were rated at 200 hp and the 85's were rated at 210 and 87's rated at 225.......mostly in part due tothe headchoice on the 86 ...I had an 86 gt vert and in the upper Rpm's it was flat!!!!

it was a hard year and just wanted to make sure it was a head problem.......now I will beg and pled with the wife.......to let me spend more money on my car......thank guys;) :D

or at least upgrade to gt40 heads. you can buy them from 200-400 bucks. you will probably pick up at around 40hp over those e6's

Adder which gt-40 heads need different header????? are they not the p's???

yea... but a few people have managed to get them to work fine.. even with BBK unequal shorties

got off early and went to the engine shop that built this motor and they are going to build me a set of E7's......but they are going to install 351 valves.....intake is slightly bigger.....and exhaust is way bigger.....and theysaid they will gasket match and port and polish them.....for about $150 a head...just because of all the greif I've had with this motor.....and we do a fair amount of business with them......so I'm going to give these heads a try.....should make more power I hope.......thanks all......and I'll let you know!!!!
