Default explorer questions

well to start off im a cheap *** (hehe) yes i do know eventually im gonna have to rebuy parts probaly and get the HIGH quality, but im just turning 17 the 26th (this friday) and aint got a high paying job yet so yea....

I dont have a mustang yet, cause im still trying to pay off my pos truck so i can sell it. been basically doing research and drooling over mustangs on craigslist for past 2 years. ima do the usuals with gears, exhaust, etc. but what kinda gains would i expect from the gt40 cylinder heads and intake from an explorer (and can someone link me to the junkyard thread i havent been able to find it, thanks) if neseccary i would do some diy porting, but would like to not *** them up. could i put some nice roller rockers and springs on them? basicaly just wondering what kinda gains i could expect from the above items, as well ill also put in a descent cam (any recommendations) my plans are just to be racing at the Friday night drags here at atlanta motor speedway when it starts back up in july. maybe a little shot of nitrous for the strip. in the future ive planned on a diy turbo. but thats a little ways away

i just need some stuff that will get me going in the right direction, ill eventually sell the stuff and upgrade to some afr's or something after i get a good paying job. and i save some money

any help would be appreciated

https://mustangforums.com/m_3901122/tm.htmthats what you need. i am young and cheap to. haha im 18 and in school and job less . . . . look at this too its cool and has a bunch of starter questions that would help you out. gt40 do good, make surewhen ur looking you can recognise gt40's because i have herd alot of people get ripped off. GT40 P's are also good too, they flow alittle better but have a little bit of a clearance problem with the spark pluggs if you have headers, some times you need to mod the headers in order to fit them. suspension will get you going too

The GT40P'S is what you well get from the explorer. It is writen right on the side, close to the front. As for the headers you can buy long tubes that give no problems at all. They are a big improvement from the stock E7'S. I am running preaty much the same setup you just before mentioned.

That link does make much since to me.

they spent $3,500 and gained 85rwhp
you can spend $3,500 on a turbo kit, slap it on a bone stock 5.0 and gain 200rwhp

Just boost it.

considering it would take me like 2 years to save up $3500, im not patient enough to leave the money untouched, and we can get alot of that stuff cheaper now, isnt that article like 11 years old or something. we can get the parts off the explorers now instead of buying new gt40 stuff. and yes i know boost is good (haha) but thats gonna be another year or 2

any more ideas/comments would be nice

You can also recognize GT40 heads by the 3 verticle bars cast into the front of the heads, GT40P's will have 4.
