Default AOD Trans???

Hey guys. Does my 93 Mustang 5.0LX have the AOD automatic??? Also there is one irritating thing. Why did they share 2nd and 3rd gear?? It goes 1,D, OD. If I change to a B&M shifter would that solve the problem of having a independent2nd gear or do I need to get a re-programmed valvebody?? Thanks for your help. Still learning.

Unless some one changed it you have an electronic shift AOD. To get around your current shifter pull it back into 1. Take off and when it is time to shift move the lever up into D, when the transmission shifts pull it back into 1 and that will hold it in 2nd gear. When you are ready to shift into drive just move the lever. A shift kit and a different torque convertor will make a world of difference.

You can get a different valvebody, or do the epoxy mod. That will make the shift pattern 1-2-3/4. Instead of 1-2/3-4

Just keep in mind that doing the 1-D-1-D shuffle is bad for the tranny, but will work... for a while.

Hi. Yeah, that's what I was thinking too!! But I won't be doingthat all the time on the street. I just leave it in OD. But sometimes it sounds so good when you shift yourself!!!

The AOD is not electronically controlled. Your thinking of the AODE....
