Is it a manual or auto? If manual, it should be somewhere in between the intake manifold and the carburetor. My car had that removed when i bought it...

On an 85, it's mounted directly behind the carb that is bolted to a spacer plate under the carb.........but if you have to ask what it is and where it is and not to be mean but I seriously doubt you'll even know what to do if you find it to even check it.......anyway first of all what does it fail for??? HC'S, CO, NOX ?????? that way we can help you look at a particular system......If it fails for Nox then egr would be something you want to look at but other things like carbon build up on the pistons can cause High Nox readings too.

I'm aware of what it does and was looking for it in the right place, but couldnt find it. It must have been removed for some reason from the previous owner because its nowhere to be found. I failed on HC and CO though.

If they removed it then there would have to be a plate over the spacer where it used to be and or does it have an aftermarket intake on it...because that would explain why it's no where to be found.....also is it a CFI (central fuel injection) or carberated.........if it failed for HC AND CO then most likely an Egr is not your problem......one potential cause of high HC'S expecially if it's carberated is it's running to rich.....could be due to a improperly tuned carb...leaky power valve.....timing improperly adjusted.......the list goes on and on but first question is it carbed??, aftermarket intake and carb??? or all stock???

Ya the cars carburated. And ya it has an edelbrock carb and intake manifold on it.
