Default roller to flat tappet cam

ok so yea, you can go from flat tappet to roller, can you go from hydrolic roller to hydrolic flat tappet? reason im asking is, my cam is ****ed, and im prty broke, it will be cheaper to get springs, cam, lifters... flat tappet. then it would to get lifters and a cam for roller... so can you go from roller to flat tappet? and what else would be needed... new pushrods?

i know a few of yall have made me offers on some cams, and their still in concideration, im just exploring all my options

Should be able to swap a flat tappet cam/lifters into a roller block, and use different length pushrods. But I'm not certain, I think the cam journals for the factory roller blocks are a different diameter, as are the cam base circles. Call Comp or someone and ask them, they'd know for certain

Depending on just how broke you are, there are some street and strip/strip cams listed there new for under $200, if this helps

How are your lifters? If you're real broke, why not look into a used roller cam? Unlike flat tappets, you can pretty much use them forever. My brother's cam and lifters in his 5.0L in his '66 vert probably have over 250K miles on them (engine has been rebuilt) and are still going strong.

Stock (buy-it-now for $25):

X-cam (currently $51)

Good luck!

Suggestion........................

You could find an aphabet, stock or TFS-1 cam fairly cheap + a set of HR lifters + dog bone pretty cheap. If you switch to a FTH cam setup, b/c it's cheaper, you could be adding to the cost, instead of replacing the fubar'ed parts........... Just a thought.

BTW.... BTSTDT......don't repeat the same mistake.
