Default Finishing up the build...

Ok, so I am finishing up this car and I am sitting at a standstill. I Just rebuilta 306 and addedComp Cams 38-302-8 efi cam, Cobra Intake, and RHS 180cc heads. I have 70mm edelbrock tb, C&l MAF tuned for 24lb injectors, FMS 24lb injectorsand a BBK Adjustable FPR with a gauge mounted on it set at 38lbs. I have gotten the car running, adjusted timing, set the tps to .98v, elec fan conversion, 3g alt, battery relocated to trunk and I believe that sums up all the main points.

Now for the problems I am having:
1) Fuel Pressure will die off as soon as I cut the car off. The gauge will drop to about 10psi for about 10 mins and then will slowly drop down to zero.

2) Car will not stay running when cold. I litterally have to start it about 10 times before it will keep itself running if I dont hit the pedal. If I catch it just right I can start it and catch it and keep it running by hitting the pedal. I have reset the computer 3 times trying to let it "Learn to Idle" and have not touched the pedal in this process. I have searched for vaccum leaks and I dont have any by using carb and tb cleaner. I also have deleted the smog system completly and the egr vaccum line no longer has a vaccum.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

What about a vacuum leak... I know the cobra intake sits a bit higher and sometimes the vaccum line that attaces to thetree may come undone because of the stretch. Also did you route the pcv vacuum hoses the way they are supposed to be with the new routing?

You didn't forget to plug the back of the heads did you? I have heard of many people doing this and running into the problem that you are having.

Heads are blocked off properly, I ran the vaccum lines exactly like pictured above and I dont have any issues with a surging idle.

Why in the pic does it have 2 sources of vacuum for the PCV. I mean, i doubt it would cause an issue, just dont really see the point in that.

Isn't there something in the gas tank itself that makes the fuel lines hold pressure?

yea, the pump.

some systems have a check valve, I dont think ours do though. You might have a hole in the rubber line that goes from the pump to the sending unit... so the lak itself would be contained inside the tank... and you would never be the wiser
