Urgent: Distributor Gear

Urgent: Distributor Gear
I'm in the process of taking a blown 1993 Bronco 5.0 motor, taking all the fuel injection, accessories, etc, and putting them on a 302 from a 1979 Mustang Pace Car (1978 engine in all reality). The last hitch I've ran into is the distributor gear. I know that they're bothmadeout of different material and need to swap them but the dist. shaft that I'm using from the '93 is larger and the dist. gear on the 78 motor is smaller. What part do I need so that I can use the 93 distributor (I have to) with the 1978 engine using the 78 cam?

Stick it in, if it fits it works orgo to a parts store and have them pull both distributers, if the gear size is the same and has the same number of teeth and the install depth is the same then it will work.

What about the material that the gears are made of? I know that you need a bronze gear to run on a steel cam or roller cam, but will it hurt to run a bronze gear on a cast cam? That's the issue, it fits, it's just a matter if the metals will be compatible.</P>
