Id like to see pics on how your doing this, i just did my whole interior along with the headliner... If you have a pepboys around they sell a headliner kit for 40$ its already padded and everything just glue it on, i used loctite spray adhesive works great...
I got a used one from a notch, for my hatch, stripped the old cloth and padding down to the bare board and did it. i learned the material dont like to stick to the old cloth or padding very well, itll eventually sag, good luck

i went to jo-anne fabrics, the girly cloth store and told them what i was doing and i paind 10 for like a 6x6 piece of hedliner material.. you know they actually have a headliner glue.. if you stuff is sagging then you might want to look into that .
