Thought of another one:

4.) I'm going to try and explain this as best I can...

Imagine that there is an imaginary axis going straight through the middle of the camshaft, from the water pump to the timing chain, and another imaginary axis through both the heads, perpindicular to that first axis. Sound confusing, ehh?

When I swap this motor into the Hatchback shell, how do I make sure that the block isn't rotated upon either or both of these axes? In other words, how can I prevent thr block hanging further down on either side, or tilting forward towards the radiator, or backwards towards the firewall? Will the mounts do this themselves because they can only be bolted in straight?

LOL Just one of the things I think about when I am supposed to be paying attention at school.

Alright whatever that meant just consider this. The fox body mustang was designed for the 5.0 engine, so the 4 cyl ones are even designed to have the 5.0s in them, therefor both engines fit just fine. (Im 90% sure of this, correct me if Im wrong.)

I knew that.

I am talking about when I go to mount the 5.0 into the car, how do I make sure that I am not mounting it at an angle, like cocked to one side or something, so that the block, tranny, driveshaft, and rear-end all line up right?

Is this part of the swap fool proof, and the engine can only be mounted in at one angle?

since you are going to put in the 5.0 get new motor mounts for a 5.0 and you should be fine and it is a good upgrade from the stock rubber ones anyways

as long as you pull the member that the motor bolts to out of the donor car and put it into your car it is fool proof it once you swap the members as far as physicly mounting it, it will be just like starting out with a v8 car and just putting the motor in (minus the eletrical of course

the motor mounts on the front K member form an angle like a V but with a wider angle. when you install the motor mounts on the engine, they also form a V which matches the angle of the motor mounts on the K member so the engine will fit right into the mounts and be at the proper angle as far as left to right goes. just don't tighten down the nut on the large stud that sticks into the K member until you have both sides fully seated in the mounts so that the engine sits level side to side. you might have to jack the engine up and wiggle it around a bit to get it to sit down in the mounts squarely and then you can tighten up the large nuts. the tranny mount at the rear of the tranny will then determine the front to back angle of the engine in the chassis.
