Unexplained loss in fuel economy.

Unexplained loss in fuel economy.
A few months ago i replaced the grommet between the tank and the filler neck on my 95 GT. Since then i have been getting an average of about 70 miles to the first half of the tank and about 120 miles to the second half. Before it would be about 120 miles for both halves. Please suggest what the reason for this could be.

That is normal for me, I get 140 miles to the tank with city driving, always have with a stock 5.0. I will keep an eye on this post to see how I might fix this myself as well.

RE: Unexplained loss in fuel economy.
I am sorry, perhaps I'm stupid but I see no correlation in filler neck grommet replacement and the fuel economy drop what so ever.....
About the only way it is feasible for the quality of the gasoline to change to the degree that it begins to affect mileage is the vehicle sitting for long periods of time. The only other thing I would tell you is you have a hole between the full mark and the 1/2 full point that is the cause.
The newer vehicles have a fuel storage system that operate under a slight positive pressure per e.p.a. to prevent excessive amounts of vapor from entering the environment. Still offers no explaination for your fuel economy loss from what you just explained.
