All the gears work. The only problem I have had with it was if I got on it, It seemed like no power was transferring. I could move faster if I kick it in to passing gear then actually getting on it. It's an aode too

well by what gear , i meant what was either slipping or just straight up not enguaging... u said no power in od? that would make sense, as its common for o/d to be held by a band... let an auto guy get in here and tell you whats up. im more of a manual guy, but ive done a few turbo350s, hydramatics, and 700r4s... no ford trannys tho... (by done i mean compleetly dissasembled and back together)

if i had the trans in front of me id be able to help u more... i have an aod at home, but, they may be differant enough for it to not show me anything...

this is one of the valves obviously in the valve body which controls hydrsulic pressure/fluid flow to one of the gears..........you'll have to look up in the valve body and see where it used to be[&:]

the retaining clip broke, -common.

Drop the valve body, might as well do the J-MOD and purchase another retainer through Ford, . Ask their transmission technician and show him the pieces and valve body if you dont know what part you need.
or

here is one on ebay for $30 good shape, decent guy
