Default smoking

so, ever since i took my cats off, and did a o/r h and flowmaster catback, i noticed the car smokes. when it gets hot out, and i beat on her, she also will enjoy shutting off on me in traffic, but NOT if i hold down the brake! when holding the brake, however, it makes this wierd hissing noise. any clues guys? wat about the smoke, i have an 87 so no cleaning the maf wud help. shud i change my air filter? i wnated to do a cold air anyway....

you could have a vac leak somewhere and that might make it hiss. if the car has a lot of miles it is prob going to smoke a little when you beat on it .

hell, mine has 152k miles on it and never smoked when i beat the **** out of it, and the broad who owned it b4 me im almost sure never changed the oil

think gettin a cold air (or just changin the filter at least) might get ride of the smoking problem? car has 88,000 miles

You've got a bad brake booster
Like Cleanfitty said, check the brake booster. The diaphram inside could be bad, causing a vacuum leak. Also, if the seal on the master cylinder is bad, it could be the cause of the smoke

You've got a bad brake booster
+1. I had this happen on my old el camino, and it hissed like that. You should check your vacuum lines to the booster first, and if they are all up to par, then I would look further into the booster, it is probably going out. My car has over 200k and doesn't burn any oil and doesn't smoke at all. Has your car sat for any long period of time in its lifetime?
