heating driveshaft bolts

heating driveshaft bolts
i was told that since locktite is on the driveshaft bolts, i would have to heat up the flange to remove them. i tried using a regular mac tools impact gun, which has quite a lot of torque, and they didn't budge. is there a way to get around heating it up or is that the only way to loosen up the locktite?

Those bolts can be a PITA. Do you need to have the driveshaft out of the car? Is this so you can remove the transmission? Change u-joints? If you are just removing the tranny, just knock the u-joint apart at the transmission end (leaving the slip yoke in the trans and it won't spill oil.) Just don't drop the cap and spill the needle bearings. Maybe knock the ujoint apart at the differential end and get a straighter (is that a word?) shot at the bolts?

The easiest way is to use a 1/2 inch breaker bar. Some times the impact can't do it.I have been there and done that.

RE: heating driveshaft bolts
i got one more question (i didn't want to make a new thread, firgured i would just use this one). anyway, i am removing the tranny which is a t5(in a 1990 gt), and i need to know what is the best way to lower it while the car is sitting on jackstands. I'm used to working with a lift and having a tranny jack, but now i'm in my garage without a tranny jack. i don't want to damage the case or anything else.
