how much nitrous
hey guys, im looking to get my car into the high 11's. i have a 306 with tw heads, a vitor jr. intake and a holley 650 dp carb. i have no idea what the bottom end is and i dont know what kind of cam is in it. im running 373's, bfg drag radials, upr pro series adjustable control arms and a tremec tr-3550 5 speed tranny. i know i dont have a lot or maybe enough info on the motor but what is a safe estimate in how much nitrous i can use at the track. this is a street cruiser that sees some car shows and will see the track maybe 6 times a year for a few passes. this might sound rediculous but i have a good friend that has an 03 mitsubishi evo that runs low 12's and i cant let the stang get beat but some jap car. thanks for the help.[/align]

RE: how much nitrous
what does it run on all motor???? I'd say if the cam isn't to wild and if the motor falls Flat well before 7000 r's or below ditch the single plane intake in favor of an rpm dual plane...you'll pick up more lower and mid if that's where the cam power band is designed to run a victor jr is for motors that develop the power between 3500 and 8000....now if your reaching at least 7500 then your okay but if it falls flat before 6500 switch and I'd run a 100 shot I picked up a full second almost from running a 12.24 all motor @112 to running an 11.34 @120.....now if you have a stud girdle on the bottom end to prevent main cap walk and your bottom end is built well then 150 + may be okay...and I'd run a wet nitrous kit

RE: how much nitrous
i have no idea what the car will or does run at currently. i do know that the car makes its power over 3000 and i had a 6000rpm rev limited chip in the msd and the dyno tuner said i need to bump it to at least 6500 cause i was making good steady power up to 6,000 do you suggest that i still change the intake?

oh, i have bbk shorty headers and a bassani x pipe with hollow cats to borla mufflers with turndowns. would i gave significant power with bbk longtubes and the short catless x pipe?

Your intake will handle those R's but you would be well advised to get some idea about what your bottom end is made of before you get crazy. If your pistons are forged then you can safely run a decent amount of spray. Safe side would be 150 and below, and wet kit's have gotten really popular, but there is nothing wrong with the plain old dry kit either.

RE: how much nitrous
there is no way of finding out what my bottom end is cause the guy i bought the car from doesnt even know. will a 150 shot be pushing it to the danger level cause i dont know the bottom end details or will it be ok. i have no problem with a 100 shot but i want to be able to run the most i can safely.

RE: how much nitrous
the reason that the previous owner does not know if the motor is forged or not is cause he bought the car with the motor out and dissasembled. the short block 306 was done and he had someone install the heads and intake and get it running. i guess he never asked the previous owner what the short block had for parts. it had nitrous hooked up when i bought it but it was missing a few parts and i was told it was never run thru the motor. do you know if i can run the exhaust i was talking about or do i have to upgrade to long tubes? thanks again.
