Default GT40 heads milled 0.030" ...OK?

I talked to the machine shop today about milling my heads and the price was $60 for both. I've heard 0.20" will bring my compression back to stock, but I also heard 0.030" will take it to 10:1.

The question is, will I run into any piston/valve clearence issues milling the heads 0.030" with my stock '95 302? If no, will there be issues any where else?

Heads are from a 9X Explorer if that matters.

stock cam? your fine... just to be happy tho, check the pushrod length, changing heads, and decking the heads, you may need slightly shorter ones... may not...

but ptv issues... .030 should cause an issue, unless ur at like .512 lift(f cam for example) i wouldnt stress

you should be fine, you'll have a tad less plunge in the pushrods but there should be enough for you to get away with it.

.030 will not bring you to 10:1 compression... I dont care WHO told you.

get them milled, get a piece of plexi glass, drill a hole in the plexi, put some vasoline around the combustion chamber, slap the plexiglass on it and pour oil into the chamber from a graduated cylinder... measure how much goes in before the hole fills... if its about 64cc, your at stock compression, 59cc will make 9.5:1........... 54cc will make 10:1

10:1 Did seem kind of high to me, but no one would/could give me a straight up answer.

In your opinion, how much should I get milled?I've been thinking about it, and I can get a F303 cam from FASTBLACK for a good price, so I'd have the Explorer GT40 heads, Explorer intake, andF303 cam. I'd like to get your opinion on what I should do.
