lol, hmmm check cast numbers on block? I was told that non roller blocks are stronger and that the roller doesn't make that much difference. Also too it should be able to rev higher without floating the valves due to the fact that flat tapets are lighter.
You were told wrong my friend, dont believe everything you hear. research is key

I would say likely non roller but thats a guess[&:]

The older 60-70-? ( blocks are heavier, stronger in the sense; they dont split down the middle they fail in other ways the common 5.0 HO block is a high nickel content lightweight design... they are harder than the early blocks... hey just take a 150,000mile block apart... see those crosshatches? they are pretty clear still aren't they
these engines just go and go and go it helps that most are eft that means less gas washing down the cylinders becasuse of "closer to perfect than carbed" a/f ratio throughout the life of the engine.

There is very little reason to worry much about if roller or not if you are dong a rebuild. You could easily retrofit roller camshaft to any vintage sbf... btw thats a good move stronger block in many cases and then retrofit...

Id guess your lincoln engine doesnt have forged pistons, id be more about that!
