Default bumping the timing?

i've heard that adjusting your timing can increase horsepower slightly. is that true and have any of you guys did it yet? seems simple give me some feed back on it and was it actually does when you pump your timing.

mine is at 14* with 87, I was running 15* with 91, but I decide to turn it down and run 87 gas, its cheaper

running 94 with timing about 16-18 with psi about 43 that kicks ***

i run 91 octane with 14* of timing. i also have 9.6:1 compression (so says afr)
