speed density
ive reciently dropped a 302 from a 90lx into my 87 lx. the 90lx had mass air and my 87lx has speed density. ive used all the original wiring and vac lines from my 87 and only swapped the motor and motor alone. (no wiring minus starter wire and oil pan sensor). the thing is that the car runs but it doesnt run right. it kinda sounds like its only firing 7 cylinders. ive installed all new plugs, wires, rotor and cap along with ICM but still its not running right. What am i doing wrong? any ideas? oh yea, the motor also has an e303 cam in it. im not sure if that matters or not.

RE: speed density
because, its speed density, and sd reads manifold vacum (map sensor) to control a/f and such...
the e cam(give me the specs of it...i dont know them alll) has too much over lap, and doesnt create a good idle vac. for the comp. system to read and work correctly
its not about going bigger/smaller... its about using a differant one, with less over lap....
what all mods do you have?
im 100% sure that if it is infact an E cam,. that that is the root of your issue
trust me... im a big fan of speed density... and an planning for high 11s/low 12s on SD in a few weeks

RE: speed density
ther are no other mods at this time its all stock for now just the cam andcold air. my daily driver took a **** on me so i was forced to put a hold on my 347stroker build up and drop this stock motor in to get to and from work till my project is done. so i'll stab a stock cam back in it tonight and if it works i got a dime bag for ya for your help.

RE: speed density
yea if you have the stocker still use it for sure
i dnt knw what happend to your stock motor, but if it did anything like throw a rod, over heat(Badly), lose oil pressure. check that cam over good for any scratches(esp on the bearing surfaces) and look for a good straight wear pattern to check to see if any lobes are wiping out.
i mean if its noticable, but not terrible, and ur in a pinch, use it... bt if its bad, dont
and ofcourse, if u have the change now... you can get a cam thatll work w. sd.... u should see the cam im putting in this car now(more lift then the e cam thats fo' sho') lol and its SD... if i were to ever go with a stroker, id just up the lift w. some 1.7 rr's
as for the e cam... either keep it for ur stroker and use 1.7 rockers, or sell if for 50 bucks
