The top speed is gonna be affected by your cars mods/ability to make power. I have run both, I have 3.73's in mine now. I like them.
exactly!!! for example...an Outlaw 10.5 car we have been working on is running 4.30 gears while crossing the traps @ 232mph....it is not simply "this ratio will give you this mph..."

I have a tech question for anyone who knows. I have an 86 gt and just bought ford 3.73 gears. part number M4209 F373N. Its a 30 spline pinionwill this fit into my stock rear end. They didn't give a option for which spline count or am i just trippin. PLEASE HELP!! Thanks

Get the 4.10s.. You will want more with the 3.73.

AOD = 4.10s Its a must

I went with 3.55s because I'm putting a KB on her in the near future, that's always been the plan. I don't think it's a bad gear, it obviously doesn't kick like 4.10s do but it gives you more use of each gear, even without a blower I think it's a perfect street/strip gear. I know Nitrous_Bob is a hardcore 4.10 guy but I was more interested in keeping my car well manered on the street than getting a few extra tenths at the track. I don't like the RPM my car turns on the highway now let along with 4.10s. 3.73 would be the lowest gear I'd go in a manual 5.0, 4.6 is a different story.
