The box is an add-on....... you could bypass it, remove it, and check if the no spark problem is present with the stock TFI setup.

The HI-6 is the equivalent to a MSD 6AL, they are used as "amplifiers" for the coil, you remove the amplifier, and the system should work in "stock" trimming.... check figure #9 in http://www.cranecams.com/pdf/90006000c.pdf.

Thanks Joel, that makes sense. I figured this was a part of a stand alone ignition system. That explains the OEM distributor and how it functions. I'll remove the box and see what happens. Thanks for the help.
