You are going to pay about the same for them everywhere, unless you find a special. Dart as a company does not offer too deep a discount to the distributors as a general rule. Besides, I have rarely seen anyone that needs a Dart block complain about pricing.

Dart's prices are pretty constant from most vendors out there. You would be hard pressed to find the block significally cheaper at one place over another; try to find somone that is closer to you and save on the shipping.

Adperformance is good. How about a well thought of local builder? I am pretty sure Dart doesn't build shortblocks.

Is there any "in between" blocks out there? I mean you go from the crappy stock block that can barely handle 500 HP to a $2000+ block that can handle 1400hp. Is there anything cheaper that can hold say, 800hp?

We are talking about 351 blocks so they are more like 700 hp blocks. And Ford makes a sportsman block at around $1350 and a race block at about $1800. Dart and World cost more and they arebetter.
