Default Head Light Issue.

My dims work just fine but when i switch to my brights, my headlights shut off completely. The blue headlight on the dash does come on. Also when this issue occured, the lighting for my automatic column, the green light for P R N OD D 1ST went out. Not to big of a deal but i wouldnt mind being able to see it.

Do you guys think this is an issue with the headlight switch, headlight switch connector, or the windshield wiper arm?

I really hope its one of the first two, or even both, because the windshield wiper arm is like 100+ at autozone. Thanks for your help.

Everything else works fine, the turn signals, windshield wipers, everything works just fine. Just NOT the highbeams and NOT the green light for the auto column.

Well, have you checked the bulbs, the high beam filaments could be out.

i had the same issue with mine as well as with my wipers.. i had parkin lights and high beams.. but no normal running lights or wipers all i had to do was check the connector under the steering colum and i found two wires that didn't had good contact with the relay for the lights and wipers.. maybe yours is that way not sure though.. and as for the shifter light that may be a simple fuse

its hard to say there are so many different things it could be with electrical. first thing i would check are your fuses and the bulbs themselves. i have seen cars where both normal lights blew at the same time and the high beams are fine. as far as your wipers i dont know whats up with them

i think you guys misunderstood me. My wipers are fine. Everything on my car works just fine BESIDES my high beams and the green light for my auto column.

I was wondering if the problem could be in the wiper control arm. Thats why i listed that item.

yes. theres an assembly, mine does the same exact thing, except when my normal headlights will flicker intermittently if i wiggle the turn signal ****. and if i push it to put on the brights the headlights turn off. its def the assembly in there. i need to open the column and see if the relay is coming apart. or see if i can a whole new signal assembly ****

Sounds like you need a new high beam switch

ya i think im just gonna drop it off at my electrician/mech and have him look into it. I currently have a broken back. He doesnt know his way around the 5.0, but he knows alot about cars in general so i trust his work. Either way, thanks for the tips, i will pass it on to him.
