Default 1st mod on stock 88 5.0?

I have basicallya stock 88 mustang GT w/ a MAC CAI. I'm not sure what to do next, throttle body, change stock gears, pullies. Don't have cash for exhaust yet, so I can only spend $300 right now. Any suggestions from anyone I would really appreciate. Thanks.

I think most people would agree that you should either do your gears or keep saving your money. IMO underdrive pulleys won't really do much for you except possibly cause problems down the road with your charging system. In terms of the the throttle body, it isn't really necessary if you still have everything else stock behind it. And since your car is speed density not MAF, you have to be careful what parts you through at it as they might actually cause things to perform worse rather than better. I believe dimebag can give you some good advice regarding speed density and appropriate upgrades. Good luck.

Depending on what cam you decide to go with in the future, a 3.73 is a good all around gear for a mild cam car and there usually the cheapest since they make the most of those more than any other gear.

I was quoted $800 dollers at the local mustang shop called AMP in phoenix, AZ to change stock gears. Imightwait and save $ to do the exhaust .

Keep looking. $800 is very high. You can find a better price..

3.73 = manual
4.10 = automatic

800 is a rip-off. Should not cost half of that.
