Default planing to do a 5.0 swap for a friend

when my friend gets back into town he wants to buy a mustang. all we can find to fit his budget is a 4 cyl auto but we have a 5.0 block, intake, t-5, etc so we can do the swap. i know you need the harness for a 5.0 which you can find on ebay all the time, i have a computer for mass air, we have a donor 85 but he wants efi if we can. if we go with efi are the fuel lines the same on the 4cyl as the 5.0? if so, we should be all set, i just need a little input as to what will be necessary. and no i will not put a turbo 4 banger in, i know it;s not bad but this isnt my project this is what he wants

ORIGINAL: stang8689

You will need different fuel lines
would that be from the tank up? or just the engine bay?
also would the engine from the 85 (carb) work if we pulled out the engine wiring harness and used the system from the 85? fuel lines, tank, pump etc.

If you are going to be using a carb, you shouldn't have a problem. Unless they/it looks like garbage, and leak, or have ****ty old fuel in them/it. Me being a cool dudedidn't change my lines or tankin my '83. Since it was carbed before, and got a carbed V8 it worked out just fine. I just changed my fuel filters200-400k just to be sure it was all good. For a carb you want a mechanicalfuelpump, and for a FI you'll need a new electric pump, sending unit, feed line, return line and a bunch of stuff I'm probably leaving out. Hope I was some help, have an awesome time doin' er' up!

thanks for the tip. i may see if he wants to just go carb. whats going on is he's decided he wants a mustang as a daily driver just to go from point a to b. my 88 body isn't in the best of shape and he would let me have the new body of this 90 lx 4cyl we found. i would pull my engine and suspension since i have so much money droped into it all and put it in the new body along with my harness and computer. i needed to know if the fuel lines would match up at any point on the 90 4cyl with my 88's 5.0 lines. and if i pulled the wiring harness out of my 88 and put the carb in there with the fuel lines etc from the 85 would the engine run along with everything inside the car like lights etc.
