Default Rear suspension issue

Ok, so im pretty sure my passenger side vertical shock is ****ed. Im just not sure how bad the damage is. I took the top strut mount cover off(plastic piece in hatch) and the top of the shock ripped through the garbage bag looking liner under my plastic. Is there any sort of mounting plate(similar to front strut plates) that i have broken and now need to replace. I do not see any metal carnage but I had the exact same problem on my old neon(strut wasbusted and wasnt actually attached the body any more, negating the effect).

Im planning on ordering a set of 6 KYB shocks and then some ford racing springs, they lower it less than an inch front and back and are progressive. Is there any work that needs to be done to the rear shock mount. I dont think its body damage, because when the exact same problem happened in my neon it was fixed relatively easy. But I didn't do it so I'm not sure what parts are required.

Hopefully I didn't suck at explaining and some of u can comprehend what I'm talking about.

Aside from being irrelevant to my question, shouldn't I get control arms before I ditch those shocks.
