I had a Steeda Tri-ax.. snapped it in half.
I had a hurst. I liked it, but it didnt feel much shorter
I just bought a B&M Ripper.... I put one in my fathers car and I love the way it feels..

not to mention I can get one kick *** deal on it. Lemme know what you find for prices. I can probably get you one for about $175 shipped

which is actually cheaper than you can get it on summit

you guys are funny with the hurst still calling it a long shift, adder is right, it feels long(looks like a long shift) but it all matters on the point of where the fulcrum lies, that has to do alot with the shortness of the shift, not so much the handle length. its still a short throw shift but just with a long handle. it shifts just as short and quickly as any other shifter, it all has to do with preference and quality of materials....whichhurst has as well as the pro50 and b&m and the mgw

ORIGINAL: 50Stocker

The stop bolts aren't as good as other shifters, I have felt it flex under moderate driving conditions,

................

Steeda Tri-Ax. you will never miss third because it is spring loaded.
You hit the stop bolts during moderate driving?

Please explain the spring action to me.
I'm only familiar with the springs that center the shifter handle into the 3, 4 gate.

Steeda is not the ONLY shifter that has the centering springs... Infact almost ALL of them have it. B&M, Hurst, MGW, Pro5.0, Steeda.... they all center up into the 3/4 gate.

Myself, personally... I dont trust a shifter handle that isnt solid like the B&M or Hurst.

Like i said earlier... I snapped a Tri-Ax in half... managed to put my hand through my radio at the same time.. on the 2-3 shift.
I didnt like driving home with a busted up hand, and a nub for a shifter

I've used the Hurst before in two different Mustangs and it worked great. In my current '65 with a T-5, I have a Steeda Tri-Axe and it works better, though I'm not sure if it is because the Hurst that I had to compare it too had quite a few miles on it and was getting a bit sloppier.

Any shifter you get will be a big improvement over the stock one. Unless you have friends with different shifters, it may require a leap of faith.

Good luck!
