Default C-6 or AOD

This car is driven on the street only a limited amount it is only driven hard on the track. for the purposes of expence would a built stock AOD be better than a relatively stock (except converter) C-6. Ive heard they are very strong stock and they can be aquired cheap what do you think

It also takes more power to turn the C6 and they are heavier.

why a c-6, perhaps the dumbest choice for auto for a sbf u can go with, no offense. but there is a reason that a lot of the bbf guys, the ones not using a lenco or glide, are even switching from a c6 to a c4. all the parasitic mass u lose, not worth it. c4's are just as common and will hold the same power.

I would suggest a built AOD. My car is about 50/50 street and track, but here in the midwest everything is highway driving. I didn't feel like screaming 3200-3500 everywhere I drove. A built AOD will last a long long time and you will cruise well down the highway.

I would go for the c4 for max effort drag racing specific. You can build them pretty tough... however my $$ would be on the AODE! Yes even though you would have to use a "black box"... I had http://broaderperformance.com/ build me an AOD with the later wide gear set and Lentec valve body. Even though the thing is awesome, it will wear out much quicker than the newer overdrive autos or C4 ... I didnt know this at the time..... here is a bit on the newer overdrive autos:

Ford's AOD-E and 4R70W transmissions are undoubtedly the best choice for a street performance small-block transmission. Affording all of the advantages of an old AOD transmission, plus increased strength, greater reliability and (for the first time) complete electronic control of all transmission functions. This transmission completely replaced the old AOD in 1994

you can get a TC with any trans you order from broader. in fact Jay perferes that you do so. He also dynos the transmissions before shipping.. BTW the shipping was very professional. I am satisfied with that shop! You can see how it arrived (at a frieght yard) here on my site http://www.thatmetalbox.com/automotive/AOD/

Jay, the dude who owns and operates - was very willing to go over every detail with me. He also installed a bulkhead connector I made for me on the trans.
