Default timing gear set

i was in the front of my engine fixing some broken off cover bolts and noticed my timing chain seemed really loose. is there a real difference in quality between spending 60 on a ford racing set or the 37 for the summit set? the engine has over 100k on it.

There is an extreme difference between the FRPP and the Summit house brands
Doesn't mean the house brand isn't worth what they charge, just that it's worth less than the FRPP and priced accordingly

Don't know if I'd go cheap on a timing chain.. You DO know what happens if it breaks right........... Beside for $40 bucks it's not a huge price breaking point I wouldn't think. $40 no.. $300 maybe.. If you get my point..

ive seen the cloyes ones for sale at summit for a real good price. i think i'll try one of those. i think one of the things that makes the other ones more expensive is that they allow you to adjust cam timing, and i am not interested in doing that. my book says that you should not be able to move the chain more than a half inch. i can move mine WAY more than that.

I second the suggestion to use a Cloyes. They have been around a LOOOOONG time. I was building a 302 for a '65 Mustang in 1971 and used a Cloyes double roller timing chain and sprockets.
