AFR pushrod length with 1.7 pedestal RR
I just ordered AFR 1472 heads (pedestal mount 165's) and plan on using my existing cobra 1.7 roller rockers. I know I need to check the pushrod length but I would like to know if other people using this combo had to purchase different length pushrods. Thanks for the help.

not that you want to hear this, but it doesnt matter...i can have the EXACT same combo as you, and differant pushrod length...
bottom line is you have to measure it, no question

Thanks for the help guys. I will check them once the heads are on the engine. I just wanted to have the engine apart for as little time as possible. If I knew it needed a different length I would order the possible differnt length pushrods and just return what I didn't need. The quicker it gets done the quicker it goes to paint.

I checked the pushrod length just by using one of my stock pushrods. It ended up being the same size (6.25") but I purchased some hardened ones. I've heard horror stories of people running un-hardened pushrods with aftermarket valve springs and if/when they bend they can destroy your entire valvetrain. Regardless of the correct size I would still recommend hardened pushrods, the Trickflow ones are the best for the money that I found.

stock springs are a joke compared to aftermaket ****... for ****s and giggles tomorrow ill get the open and closed pressures of the stock spring, and its total press. before coil bind... and get the same for my comp springs
i agree, w. aftermarket valve train hardened pushrods should be used, im using stockers, but upgrading them when i can...
to the op... its gonna have to wait... measure it, and then next day air the new pushrods or somethin... this isnt something you guess at

FWIW, I'm running the same heads with the Crane 1.7's and had to go to 6.500" pushrods, but I also changed to different cam/lifters, and the head gasket thickness will change that as well. Definately measure them, even 2 totally identical engines aren't totally identical.
