Harmonic Balancer Install
I am putting a profesional products balancero n my 94 with the engine in the car. I got the key way and everything all aligned up and spacer on and went to put the balancer on. It says i can just use a deadblow hammer to tap it on, but it aint happening, Is it suppose to be this much of a pain to get on or was i suppose to throw some grease on the crankshaft snout before i went to put it on?

RE: Harmonic Balancer Install
ya i would but its not on far enough for the bolt to thread in, so im asuming if i go to the hardware store and can find a bolt same thread but longer i could get it in, it will just be a pain then to get that bolt back out probably.

pull it back off, spray some wd40 or w/e lube you have, and try again. it shouldnt have to go on that far before the bolt will thread in. also make sure its going on straight. if you hit it cockeyed it will bind very easily. that could very well be your problem.

Correct me if I'm wrong, as I've only looked at a PP balancer once, but doesnt' the spacer go between the balancer and the pulley or are there two spacers, one for and one aft?

RE: Harmonic Balancer Install
there is a plastic ring that centers the spacer, but there is only one actual spacer between the pulley and the balancer itself. on the back, there is a weight that can be removed and swapped out depending on which motor your using it on (28 or 50 oz).

RE: Harmonic Balancer Install
heres mine, i didnt know i needed a spacer until after i got it - so i had a custom one spun from a piece of solid aluminum on a lathe. once again, having connections in machine shops ftw
you can see the plastic rign behind it, thats what centers the thing on the balancer.
