Default need some help please**updated with pics*

I finally fulfilled a boy hood dream when on a whim I went and bought a 1988 Mustang GT with T-tops that I saw on eBayhere in southern Alberta. The guy needed money and I needed a toy, so after a 3 hour drive to get there I was driving back in my new toy with a bungee cord keeping the signal light lever forward so I could have headlights, as they were not working on the switch for some reason. The engine had 20 miles on a rebuild and had the following done to it.

The block was bored 40 over
Aluminum flat top pistons 10:1 compression
Roller rockers
Roller Lifters
Double roller timing chain
276hr roller cam
Gt40 heads
24lb injectors
Headers
Flowmaster exhaust
A/C and smog delete
High volume oil pump
Aluminum water pump
Chrome alternator
New 5 bolt conversion kit (not installed yet)

[ul][/ul]

The bad is it runs pretty rough at this point as I am told it need a MAF conversion kit and computer tune to adjust for the lumpy cam. I am not sure where to start with this car and could use any help that anyone can offer.

I am trying to find all the parts to do the MAF Conversion, but where can I get a mass air computer set up for 24lb injectors.

That is an f'n big cam...

Think I might spend the money on a more street friendly cam and leave the speed density alone. Somebody else can confirm or deny this, but I'm pretty sure that GT-40s don't respond very well to lift above .500...

ebay is a great place to find a cpu for the swap, when I swapped over I bought my cpu off ebay for like US$100shipped. and there is plenty of information on the swap on this forum.
congrats and do you have any pictures of the car?

So the cam might be too big for the heads to handle? The motor runs great, but has is running super rich to try and keep it running at idle. I know this car is running nowhere near its potential as it sits. My 98 Grand Prix GTP with minor mods will eat this stang without any problems at all, but I know there is more under that hood than is hitting the ground. All I have to say is that for what I got it is the best $1900 I've ever spent. I will get some pics up really soon.

I'm not saying outright that its too big, but what I am saying is that it is a BUNCH of cam. Far more than I am planning to run with an identical setup (except ported/polished GT-40 heads/intake) on a mass air car.

For around $200 you could step down to a smaller cam and skip the mass air change.

Do you have any suggestions on a cam that would work well with my setup? I know it is not running right at the moment, but I wonder with the powerband on my current cam being 2000 to 6000 is that why I can't lay rubber for blocks like a regular pony car? Or is it because I am running so badly at the moment?

Lots of mass air and SN-95 guys go with the Steeda 19, and have very good success with it.

And.. If you're running mild or stock gears, that high power band could be the reason why you can't torque the tires.. The motor takes too long to build power with 2.73s.

edit: I'm also not trying to convince you that your cam is your problem.. Could be huge vacuum leaks or bad timing or something totally different.. Just saying that is a really big cam...
