noob 5.0 ?
what needs to be done or what are you guys doing to get your 5.0's to run 13's N/A? im in the market for a 87 to 93 5.0 and want to do full bolt-on's and im possibly going to pull my nitrous kit off my truck and run it on the car and hopefully see low 13's or high 12's with a 100 shot.

RE: noob 5.0 ?
i was afraid youd say gt hatch............the heaviest fox there is but still capable of 13's. first off get a five speed. second do a heads cam and intake package from say holley or edelbrock. 3rd do a full exhaust, long tubes x pipe and cat-back. and finally good tires and 4.10 gears. it sounds like alot of money but 13's naturally aspirated is what u want right? now throw a hundred shot on top like u plan, and with a good launch 12's are easy to obtain. just dont blow the trans................................

i know the hatch backs weigh a bit more but they are the most available. this guy has a 93 cobra with a fresh engine rebuild i really like for 5000 bucks which is exactly what i have to spend. im going to throw 4000 at him which he will probably take and start off with the mods with the extra 1000 i have left over and put my nitrous kit on it. BTW.. how much more do the hatchbacks usually weigh over the notch backs?

RE: noob 5.0 ?
gts weigh about 150-200 more than a notch. i own one so im kinda partial. the cobra isnt a car u wanna buy to race/abuse. there just weren't many made to justify it. sstick to a gt if u want a hatch. or u could just buy a coupe.btw i saw a mustang mag article a few years back where a kid built a full drag race suspension and went mid 12's with a stock motor. it was in a lx hatch.

RE: noob 5.0 ?
i know the cobras were kind of rare. this one isnt really one thats in awesome shape. i was thinking maybe i could semi-restore it. it needs paint and does not have the original wheels and the interior is all torn up(pre-historic aftermarket radio, stained floors torn seats ect.) but if it runs as strong as he says it does im probably going to scoop it up and give it some new life.

RE: noob 5.0 ?
well do what u feel. but a car that looks like u say it does prolly doesnt have what he says it has. i would be skeptical, and maybe ask for a receipt toprove whats done to the motor then go from there. i admire what u wanna do to a forgotten piece of mustang history though.
