i just rebuilt the motor and was just wondering if you are going to be able to turn the motor over with a breaker bar with the rods torqued down to the proper spec
ifit is freshly ***. and well hand oiled it should turn preety eay but if the block was matchined to close it will be tight, ive done serval and used different machine shops until i found one i like and they machine the block to the spec of the pistons all piston have clearacne spec same withthe mains and rod check all your cleaences.
if you used assembly lube on all the bearings and the cam and lifters when you assembled the motor, and plenty of oil on the sides of the pistons, then you certainly should be able to turn it over with a breaker bar, especially with the spark plugs removed. if you can't turn it over, then something is bad wrong internally with the rotating assembly.
well with 1 connecting rod tightend down you cant move it with a breaker bar so something is wrong
Your problem is probably that you mixed up your rod caps/rods.... First you need to make sure that the rod caps are on the right way (there is usually a machined area or number stamped on them, but knowing how cheap ford is there probably is no number) If there's a number stamped or cast in it, just match them up 1-8. If you're not so lucky, then start off by putting assembly lube on your rod bearing, and then putting one rod together on the crank with the cap on the correct way. If it turns easily, you're good to go. If not, take it apart and try another. There should also be a pattern that the assembly lube creates to show where it's siezing on the rod.
If you're positive you didn't mismatch the caps, then try plastigague and see if your clearance is too tight.
