Default That little steering shaft collar that attaches to box

I just stripped mine, I didthe rag joint a couple months ago & was under the car today & noticed the bolt wasnt bottomed out in the collar { about 4 threads were showing} so I decided to tighten it & stripped that little collar, bolt came out in 1 piece & is fine.
My questionsare ...is thatlittle threaded collar thing a part that is " replacable " can it be removed, or do I need a newsteering shaft ?
I couldnt get a good look @ it & forgot how it was set up..
Also, could I get away with a longer bolt that will bite the last few threads thatthis one wasnt { why would Ford use a bolt thats 1/4" too short in these things ??} or maybeI have the wrong size bolt in there ??

thanks for any help on this..Please !! LOL

ahh man,I was psyched i got a hit, I wonder if i had the wrong bolt in therebeing it was too short & a longer bolt would do the job, dont want to half azz something as important as steering components though..

as for the rag joint option it may or may not work it says it's fro a manual conversion but it looks quite similar to my 85 joint so may or may not work

That rag joint adapter looks just like mine & I have power steering..Phew $ 80 bucks for that thing..[:'(]
I may just go for the MM U jointed complete shaft for 200 beans
