Default speedo recalibration

i saw obsolete's post about the gears. i see that i need the red 21 tooth gear. now that gear goes down in the tranny right?? i've never seen this topic explained, like what needs to be done and what the hell gear is being replaced lol. someone else on here said that the gear is replaced in the throttle somewhere? but that didn't make sense to me, sounded like the were tokin somethin. if someone could explain how to install this recalibration gear, that'd be cool. thanks.

oh yeah, its for my 87 gt. 5.0L 5 spd.

there is 1 bolt that holds it in the transmission and all you do is just pull it out of the transmisssion and pull the clip holding the speedo gear in and put the new on. the reverse for installation

the speedo gear is on the end of the speedometer cable where it enters the trannsmission. remove the one bolt holding the cable housing into the tranny and pull the cable out and the gear will come with it on the end of the cable. remove the metal clip and slide the old gear off and put the new gear on and replace the metal clip. put the cable housing back into the tranny and reinstall the bolt and you're done.

the driveshaft doesn't need to come out....just do what he said and it'll come out...no more, no less.
