i personally would get a tune up done. I would do all you can afford. But as for running rich, you can get a fuel pressure guage to check, but i personally dont think that should be your first step. I would do a tune up, if that doesnt solve it, which i would almost bet would, i would start trouble shooting stuff. Just my 2 cents though.

Got any spare money to throw at your car or do you want to solve this "problem" specifically?

yeah the budget is kind of tight, so I would like to get right to the root of it. I will do a tune up and see what happens. Thanks for the input!!

well if money is to to tight there are a few things you could look into. Black smoke is caused by excess fuel. You can use a fuel pressure regulator to see what your fuel pressure is. You could make sure all your injectors are fine and not broken at all and you should really change your oil if you havent already. Also check the oil to make sure there isnt fuel in it. You could also have a bad fuel pump etc. Its really hard to tell, thats why i would just do a tune up.

Default leaking fuel can anyone help

I was just outside messin around under the hood and I found that behind the egr there is a little blue cylinder ( BBK brand) looks kind of like a fuel pressure regulator, but it is leaking fuel, and Im not sure what it is and how to stop it from leaking. I tightened the hex head bolt on the side and there is also a bolt ontop but I didnt want to mess with that.

From the sounds of it, expecially if you say its leaking fuel, its a fuel pressure regulator. If it is leaking im assuming thats whats causing your car to run rich and running out of gas quicker. Is it like literally leaking fuel out onto things? Your so lucky you found this before a huge fire could have started.

Any chance i can get a pic so i can recommend you exactly what to do?
