My 302 build up. . . suggestions
Ok i've got a 91 bronco 5.0 that im throwing in my ranger.
So far i've got E7 heads that im planning on doing a P&P job. Im also converting the block to a roller block. Planning on running a 303E cam. I want low end power. (lifted offroad rig) So my big question right now is the heads. Someone told me to get 289 heads with a P&P job. They claim i'll have 10.5 compression, i can run 87 octane and see 75-100hp jump. Im calling BS on this. I dont have the money for good heads. If the 289 really isnt the way to go i'll just stick with my E7s. What do you guys suggest with my application? All i care about is the heads and cam right now. NOTHING with the crank and pistions. I'll worry about that when i go supercharged in a few years. btw im running a fairly open exhaust. Any suggestions for a muffler that will make sure i have good backpressure after long tubes? |

Keep the compression low 8.5 or 9.0 to 1 if you plan to super charge.

Im not doing the sc for a few years. Probably when i need to rebuild or if i break something. So im not worried about compression as long as i can still run 87 most of the time.

well first the cam is wrong for a truck with big ass tires....you need a cam with a tighter c/l to help it rev faster....I would buy a set of gt-40p heads for about 250.00 this will give you about 30hp over those e7 heads.. and just port match them..as for intake find a truck lower there like 25.00 and find an edlebrock upper this will save you about 100.00.......10.5 compression you won't be using 87 gas so maybe have the heads milled 30,000th along with the intake...with 10 degrees timing you can use 89 or you could go with a carb..a msd will help out with better complete combustion
