HELP ON 89 LX MUSTANG

I just bought an 89 5.0 lx and the glovebox wont open i tried to shove a flathead screw driver in the key hole but little plastic pieces just came out. Does anyone know how to open a glovebox without prying it open or ripping it apart?

do you have the hatch key maybe its locked

ya thats not it, can you take off the glovebox by unbolting the bolts underneath it?
