quite possibly bad maf if it is cracked and drawing in unmetered air through the crack then it'll make the computer detect a lean condition and compensate by adding more full until it reaches it's adaptive limit...but since you said your CAI fell off at the TB I'm not suprised it logged the code and that's probably why the code is stored in memory...but it still could have a bad maf..and as for the ect code you'll need to check that out and see if it reads with in spec......and as for the detonation/ping.....if you have carbon build up in the cumbustion chambers this can cause a lean drivability symptom/problem when cold..cause carbon acts as a sponge and absorbs the a/f until it gets saturated then it'll run right when warm....a good seafoam treatment or induction clean can take care of that

ok i found it. would the tfi module make it run lean like that all the time? i dont have carbon build up either i run seafoam about ever 2 or 3 fill ups. the detonation has always been a problem and it normally happens when the car gets hot or when i used to run it really hard.

tfi is the module on the distributor its also known as ignition control module. try cleaning your maf with maf cleaner and make sure all the hose clamps are tight nd theres no cracks.

hey can anyone send me a pic or an sn95 TFI module. i looked today and the only thing thats on the distributor is two wires clipped together and i think that one goes to the coil. the pic i saw looked nothing like mine.
