Default LSC to Stang

Hey guys,

I have come upon a jewel of an engine ever since I started with my new girlfriend. There, all the way in the back of her property......a 1988 Lincoln Mark VII with a 5.0 HO V8. Best of all. It only has 40,000 miles on it!

But since it has been sitting there without starting for about two years. I imagine there's gonna be a lot of work to do on her to get her up and running again. The leather interior is cracked and so is the dashboard. But the electronics all still seem to work. The air suspension is completely shot also.
I still haven't decided if I'm going to stick to the Mark VII or to transplant the engine to a Mustang. So I'm trying to find some info on this possible project.
I gather the block is identical. Only the engine management differs somewhat.
How hard would it be to install this block into a Mustang body? What are the things I would surely need? Does the mustang body have to be a V8 as well?
You know things of that nature. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Xander

I"m guessing the job would be the same if you put a new long block in a Mustang, just take the long block out of the Mark VII and into your stang.

Might want to research that mileage a bit more, since all the other stuff is bad on the car. But, it could be exact mileage.
The life span on the air suspension bags is about 10-12 years anyway and doesn't have anything to do with the engine, but since the car is an '88, it could have 140k miles.

That engine is exactly the same as what's in a Mustang if it says 5.0 HO on the intake, roller cam too. Good find.

Seems kind of presumptuous that the car is yours just because you have a new girlfriend...given no other details on how that would come to be.

LSC same exact motor as a mustang except the pullies are different sizes. A LSC is nothing more then a stretched out fox platform

Hey, kind'a missed the topic. Everything moves so fast in here. I'm used to VW VR6 forums where you post would stick for about 5 days before
disappearing.

Anyways, as for the car being mine. And regarding girlfriends and whatnot. Don't worry. I'm not robbing anyone nor am I assuming anything.
As for the mileage, I can beleive the 40,000 miles. Rmember, the island I live on is 40 miles long. No long highways. It's previous owner really babied the car.
I still have all the original Lincoln books and even the door codes. The old chap sold it to my gf with tears in his eyes and gave out tips
and hints till her ears bled. This car drove fine up to 2 years ago when she had air suspension problems. Being that she doesn't know much about cars
it stood here in the tropical sun for 2 straight years. We are surrounded by the ocean (being an island of course) and meteorological conditions here
dictate that there's a constant wind blowing from the northeast. Sometimes even gusting to 20 or 30 mph in the dry season (which is now).
So the sun and salt really took a beating on this car. But other than that she's a real beauty.

So my question still remains how easy it would be to swap it into a Fox body Mustang. From what I've gathered so far, I need to source new pullies.
Are there any other general tips some of you can dish out regarding Ford 5.0 swaps?

Thanks,

Xander

the car does not hafto be a V-8 the 4-cyl or V-6 will work out fine . the straight 6 will not work but that is befor 1982 . the V-8 car is the easy way out . take it out and put it in

Might want to get it running before thinking about swapping it - 2 years inactivity could mean toasted seals, possibly rust in the cyls, etc.

If you swap and get a cheap 4banger you'll need to get a tranny and rear end too - the 4cyl stuff won't hold up.

actually the 4cyl stuff WILL hold up, the tranny is the weak point though, cant bag on the carr too much for a 4cyl tranny, and the rear is a peg leg. suggest a 5.0 fox with a blown engine or something to use

4 banger gets a 7.5" rear end - won't hold up to much abuse. If you drive like my mother, then it's fine.
