Default Equal Length Header Install?

For those with experience with equal length headers:
1. Can you install them w/o jacking up the motor on the passenger side?
2. Is it hard to change sparkplug with equal lengths?
3. Are they worth it, in you opinion, compared to stock or shorties?
4. Difficulty? CouldI swap them in the driveway with the car on the ground?

I am looking at getting some chrome BBK's. Do you have to get a new gasket and bolt set?Anyother opinion, insight, etc onheaders would be appreciated. Long tubes are not an option. Thanks.

why are you putting on equal length headers. headers should come with bolts & gaskets. changing plugs will be a lil bit harder but you can do it. if you have common sense you should be able to put them in on the driveway

are you doing this in your 1994? I have the BBK equals on my 1991 notchback.
It is NOT easy. the passenger side with the smog gear etc was MUCH more difficult, even though I removed much of that at the time, I did my AOD & Torque converter, x-pipe, shortie equal length, flex-a-lite cooling fan & controller, aluminum driveshaft, poly motor mounts, & 9" swap at the same time, using only a floor jact & two stands..... I must say that one header was easily the most difficult.[:@][:@]

YES You can do it in the driveway w.car on the ground but you have to be more stubborn that it is.....

I had equal lengths on mine, hated em you will never want to change a plug again. No you do not have to jack up the motor. They are not hard to install, i would only get shorties or full length if you want to spend the money and time jacking up the motor.

I installed BBK Equals on my old 89 with a mechanic Everthing went really easy and the new headers should come with a new gasket. I would advise buying the Ceramic coated Equals

Yes, in the 94.The reason I ask, because I read BBK's install intructions for both the equals and the regualar shorties, and the equal length instructons were 3 times as long. It mentions removal and relocation of smog lines as well as the possiblity of having to lift the motor. The equal are worth a few more HP, but after reading the instructions and a few of the posts I think the regular shorties might bethe best bet.

Are the shorties evenworth the power gains over the crimped stockers?

Thanks for the input everone.

I put some Unequal length BBK shorties in my 1990 5.0 Lx. The passenger side was much much easier to install then the drivers side. The dam dip stick was the most frusterating part. I did the headers, x-pipe, and cat back system all in my garage with jack stands. The headers will include new gaskets and bolts and I'd suggest some copper gasket selant to rub all over the gasket just incase. As for the sound and tone, couldn't be happier and there is a trottle response difference thats for sure.
