The housing and lense come out. The housing is held on by bolts in the trunk, the lense can be popped off with a knife or small flat screw driver, but it has weather stripping type material on it making it hard to pop off for the first time. You don't HAVE to replace the material when putting the lenses back on the housing. I've had my lenses & housing out multiple times on my notchback.

unbolt the housing and you can gently pry lenses out but will need weatherstrip adhesive to reattach/reseal them
