5.0 swap?

5.0 swap?
as you can see in my username, my 96 mustang has a 3.8 in it. i want to know how hard/ cheapit is too drop a 5.0 into this thing. i know i'd have to change the exhaust, radiator(?), motor mounts etc... but some guy told me i'd have too change a lot in the suspension, and swap the k-members too. is this true? the reason i need to know is that i have a 5.0 car with everything that isn't being used and if the swap isn't that bad, i'd try it. the car is an 88 grand marquis. also, i don't know if the 88 engine would be compatible w/ the 96 car/chassis/ tranny. i would be doing theswap myself, with the help of a relative whois a mechanic.any help here would be appreciated.

RE: 5.0 swap?
Yuo have to change the k-member, all of the engine wiring, and piece in some of the exsisting wiring from the car. I do not believe the 96 trans would bolt up without some parts. I used a t-5 and swapped the input shaft and bellhousing from a 94-95 GT.
Its a pretty big project, and if I had to do it all over again, I would sell the 96, and look for a 94-95 with a 5.0L in it already. The stock V6 radiator will work btw. You would need to change the rear axle to an 8.8 as the 7.5 will not hold up. Depending on which trans you go with will depend if you can reuse the driveshaft. I had the auto trans in my 96, and the driveshaft would not work. The fox driveshaft from my parts car with a T5 did work though it was a little short. There is a lot of info out on the net about this, yuo may want to check that out before thinking about the swap.
